Pink Awareness

I thought about it many times but never of it as something touching my life. Now it has: breast cancer has become a reality for my family.Mom has breast cancer. One month ago she had a lump removed and when the results came back there was no mistaking them: infiltrating lobular carcinoma. Today she had her mastectomy and that makes it pretty real, what do you think?
In the past month it has been such a roller coaster of emotions, of fear and sadness mostly, but also of hope and desire to make every minute count. Now we need to wait for the results of the lymph nodes analysis, to see if the lymph nodes that they removed today are touched by the disease. I hate that I am here, so far from home and that I can't help her in any way. I can't wait until we go there in one month. Hang in there mom, hopefully the worst is over!

Studio Friday: Family

Photographs are one of the best testament to family. In my house you will find them everywhere.I love pictures, I love capturing the moments that won't come back and sit around with my kids talking about those moments. Charles Baudelaire used to write about how different fragrances and smells remind us of specific places and moments in time (Le fleurs du mal). I always thought it was so true, and pictures do the same for me. This is a little corner of my studio that shows how pictures fill my space. Posted by Picasa

Appearances

I know this page can make many of us think that the child in the picture is the sweetest little boy offering flowers to his mom, but don't let the appearances (or him ) fool you!!! Ryan is not prone to these kind of gestures (you'll have much better luck if you love to receive Thomas the train filled with rollie pollies) but I am desperate to capture sweet moments, so I cheat!
I took this picture while he was showing me the flowers from out yeard that he had just picked because he considered them ugly and needed to be thrown away. Oh well, I will take whatever I can!!

Studio Friday: Favorite Art Supply/ies

" I know for myself, I am at the core a rubber stamper and I would be at a great loss without my many, many ink pads! and running a tight close second is my wonderful paper fetish I have going! LOL!"

Let's admit it, I am a lazy person!!! And it shows in many aspect of my life, even in my favorite art supplies. At the moment my supplies of choice are letters (mostly chipboard, but letters of any kind will do!) and yes they are cute, yes they are colorful, but to me they are easy! Yes, EASY! When I want to say something and saying it fast, what is easier than grab a few premade letters here and there and just slap them on your pages? I think nothing!!!

Another day

It is only Wednesday and I am already so looking forward to the week-end. It is not the first time, but it is happening more and more often (like every week?). Should I take it as a sign or am I just tired? I don't have the time to dwell on it, so let's leave this question for another time. I love summer, we try to use every single available moment to do something all together as a family, so after work we may go out for dinner, or to the coffee shop and sit there until it is time for the kids to go to bed. In this way the days feel a little longer and more meaningful, not just a repetition of the day before. I have to get ready for work (and the gyn before that which at times can be a very painful thought!!). Hope everyone has a great summer day!!!

Studio Friday: SPACE

" Space? The final frontier? I have limited studio space, but not by the mere fact the room is only probably 9x10 but because of all the many things inside of that space! What consumes your creative space? Tell us about those infringements."

My studio is small and it holds so much more than it should. Because of the small space, I rarely find what I need and this causes me a great deal of stress!! I often move things around to find the best organizational space, but I still have not found a way that satisfies me. And that is OK because life is a working progress, a continuos improvement, and my space reflects this concept perfectly!!!
